itv|world and News Interactive’s Motor Show Webcast revs up
Internet users
SYDNEY, Australia 24 October, 2002 -- Over 2,000 lovers
of beautiful cars accessed a special Internet broadcast showcasing
some of the hottest wheels from the world’s leading car manufacturers
during last week’s four-hour live webcast of the official opening
of the Sydney Motor Show 2002. itv|world, a Sydney-based
provider of digital media services, has announced that the ground
breaking Webcast of this exclusive media event was viewed by car
enthusiasts around the world, demonstrating the powerful global
impact of Australian streaming marketing events. “On demand” video
featuring highlights of the 17-27 October Darling Harbour show is
still accessible at www.sydneymotorshow.com.au.
itv|world worked with the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre’s
internal Production Unit and News Interactive to produce the live
Webcast of the Sydney Motorshow 2002 - Australia’s leading automotive
expo.
The team jointly tackled one of Australia’s most sophisticated
Webcast camera shoots. The Webcast involved the transmission of
live and pre-recorded audio and video elements to Internet connected
PCs. It allowed local motoring enthusiasts from as far away as Australia’s
Fraser Island and throughout Europe to view the official live unveiling
of many of the latest and greatest cars and motorcycles, including
the Asia-Pacific premiere of the breathtaking $2 million Enzo Ferrari.
In addition to the live Webcast of this exclusive media event, 14
edited video clips of the presentations were posted on the Motorshow
Website in time for the event’s opening weekend.
"The strong audience response demonstrates the huge potential
of Webcasting as a promotional platform which can extend the traditional
live exhibition and conference space into the world of the virtual
trade show,” said itv|world's Head of Production, Ms. Kath Hamilton.
“As one of Australia’s leading streaming video production companies,
itv|world is inviting organisations to consider the potential exposure
and brand enhancement which this technology affords by incorporating
video streaming into their virtual trade show plans,” said Ms. Hamilton.
“We are particularly excited to have been involved with News Limited
in producing this unique and ambitious Webcasting event,” said itv|world
CEO, Mr. Jason Romney. “It reinforces the power of the Internet
as a compelling marketing tool that can cut across demographics
to reach selected global markets.”
“Through Webcasting, the Internet provides new ways to increase
attendance revenue, new sponsorship and better monetised direct
relationships with consumers,” Mr. Romney said.
itv|world also delivered edited video on demand highlights for
those who missed the live launch, which featured appearances and
performances from a host of Australian artists and celebrities including
internationally acclaimed dance troupe The Tap Dogs, model turned
author Tara Moss, swimming star Ian Thorpe and Popstar host, Jackie
