itv|world, a Sydney based specialist provider of software solutions for the digital media industry, today announced that it will release the 2nd generation of its flagship product, In|Orbit, on October 1. In|Orbit is an integrated scheduling and automation product suite for interactive television. It generated strong interest at June’s BroadcastAsia 2002 Exhibition in Singapore, when it was given its first public disclosure.

The launch coincides with the International Broadcast Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam in mid September - the world's premier broadcast and digital media technology event.

"We have received a strong response from many of the world’s leading networks and broadcasters, which is particularly encouraging as we put the 2nd generation of In|Orbit to market," said itv|world's founding CEO Mr Jason Romney.

Recent research reveals iTV services will achieve an explosive annual growth rate of 59%, totaling over 244 million households worldwide by 2006 and resulting in revenues from ITV services increasing from $300 million in 2000 to $19.2 billion in 2006.

The In|Orbit scheduling and automation solution is an open and scalable product. It is made up of two unique tools each tailored for their respective users - network operators and broadcasters.

In|Orbit Control is tailored for network operators or other entities who control their own head-end and play-out infrastructure. It cuts costs and increases operational efficiency.

In|Orbit Remote is built for broadcasters who wish to have greater control over the interactive services that comprise their programming. It is based on permissions allocated by the network operator to grant privileges on the broadcast platform to broadcasters wishing to schedule and update their interactive applications.

"In|Orbit’s new features build on the true multi-user environment, rights management and security framework introduced in the 1st Generation," said itv|world's Director of Product Development Mr Sven Wolf. “In addition to In|Orbit Remote, In|Orbit 2nd Generation also introduces support for application verification/approval, remote updating of content, multiple head-end configuration/integration, GUI and SI updating," said Mr. Wolf.

Visitors to IBC 2002, Amsterdam can find out more about the In|Orbit product suite at OpenTV's booth #: 1.171.
